Vabljen/-a na predstavitev umetnice in kuratorke Alene Drahokoupilove , v četrtek, 3. 9.  2015, ob 19:00 v Galerijo K18, Koroška cesta 18, Maribor.

You are cordially invited to attend the »Meet the resident: Alena Drahokoupilova« event on 3th of September, 19:00 at K18 Gallery, Koroška 18, Maribor.

Alena Drahokoupilova (1983, Pilsen, CZ), živi in dela v Berlinu kot svobodna umetnica in kuratorka (Ausstellungsraum für Architektur & Visuelle Medien in Dresden, Czech Centre Berlin).

Alena Drahokoupilova (1983, Pilsen, CZ), lives and works in Berlin as freelance artist and curator (Ausstellungsraum für Architektur & Visuelle Medien in Dresden, Czech Centre Berlin). She studied cultural anthropology, multimedia and photography in Czech Republic, United Kingdom and Germany.
In her recent practice she is particularly interested in urban space, ideas of the 60s and 70s, utopian dreams of a better society and a better city which have not worked in reality but are – thanks to their malfunction – often becoming places of ambiguous character and grandiose potential. In her art and curatorial practice – especially by mixing both roles, Drahokoupilova is therefore focusing on complex urban locations, places that are torn between different systems, time periods and planning ideologies, places that cannot adapt, are abandoned, left over in transition and in transformation and explores their potential for free creativity as well as their potential for innovative development of the city.
